Railways, MPHA in quarterfinals

Defending champion Indian Railways, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy (MPHA), and Odisha entered the quarterfinals of the National women’s hockey championship here on Tuesday.

Railways outsmarted Kerala 17-1 in a Pool ‘A’ match, while Odisha recorded a 5-0 win over Bhopal in Pool ‘C’. MPHA blanked Chhattisgarh 6-0 in a Pool ‘E’ engagement.

The results: Pool ‘A’: Indian Railways 17 (Poonam Rani 5, Vandana Katariya 4, Jasjeet Kaur 2, Anupa Barla 2, Soundarya Yendala, Ramneek Kaur, Yogita Bali, Deep Grace Ekka) bt Kerala 1 (Neethu Thambi). Pool ‘C’: Tamil Nadu 2 (M. Shenbagavalli, K. Mythili) drew with Rajasthan 2 (Meenu Kumari, Pooja Devanda); Odisha 5 (Namita Toppo 2, Birajini Ekka, Nilima Minz, Elin Lakra) bt Bhopal 0. Pool ‘E’: MPHA 6 (Ranjita 3, Kavita Vidyarthi, Apoorva Vishwakarma, Ritusha Arya) bt Chhattisgarh 0. Pool ‘G’: Karnataka 15 (Chaitra Korakuttira 4, Balathimanahalli 3, Rashmi Padiyanda 3, Munirathnamma 2, Saira Dastagir 2, Thrupthi Mathramanda) bt Puducherry 0; Chandigarh 14 (Rajni 4, Reena Khokher 3, Shivani 2, Neeru 2, Harpreet Kaur, Nishi Chauhan, Sangeeta) bt Uttrakhand 0.
