Poonam Rani to lead India

Poonam Rani will lead the Indian team in the four-nation Shastri junior women's tournament to be held at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here from November 8 to 12.

The under-21 tournament will feature Australia, Germany and New Zealand and the matches will be played on a round-robin format.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has appointed Rosie Stern from Australia as the Tournament Director and Vilma Bagdanskiene from Lithuania as the Neutral Umpire.

The team:

Goalkeepers: Sukhmani Virk and Bigan Soy.

Defenders: Deep Grace Ekka, Jaspreet Kaur, Apoorva Vishwakarma and Sandeep Kaur.

Midfielders: Niki Pradhan, Namita Toppo, Monika Malik, Balvinder Kaur Mehra and Anju Dhiman.

Forwards: Navjot Kaur, Neha Goyal, Anupa Barla, Lilima Minz, Poonam Rani, Navneet Kaur and Anima Minz.

The schedule: Nov 8: Australia v Germany (1 p.m.), India v New Zealand (3 p.m.); Nov 9: New Zealand v Germany (1 p.m.), India v Australia (3 p.m.); Nov 11: Australia v New Zealand (1 p.m.), India v Germany (3 p.m.); Nov 12: 3 / 4 Place Match (11 a.m.), Final at 3 p.m. — Special Correspondent
