Ninety domestic players, including the 16 who participated in the London Olympics, have signed up for the Hockey India League (HIL) scheduled to start in January next.

According to Hockey India Secretary-General Narinder Batra, the list also included the 32 junior players who had been receiving a monthly stipend from the federation.

“We are pleased with the progress of HIL. Sahara India, Jaypee Group and Uniexcel Group have taken up franchises for Lucknow, Mohali and Ranchi respectively. We will soon announce the remaining three franchisees,” said Batra.
