The Indian men’s hockey team slipped one place to sixth in the FIH rankings after a lacklustre show at the Rio Olympics while the women gained one position to be at 12th in the latest charts released on Tuesday.

Australia, which finished sixth at Rio, remained on top while newly crowned Olympic champion Argentina moved up five places to second.

On the women’s side, Great Britain’s shoot-out victory over the Netherlands saw it slinch the Olympic gold and move up to third spot, just behind top ranked the Netherlands and Argentina, which remained second despite a seventh-place finish at the Rio Games.
