36 teams for National championship

Altogether 36 teams will take part in the National hockey championship, to be held in Bangalore from September 23 to October 2.

The championship, to be played on a league-cum-knockout basis, will be held at the Hockey Stadium, Langford Road, and the MEG Centre, Banaswadi Road.

The inaugural match will be played between Chhattisgarh and Arunachal Pradesh in Pool C.

The National selectors will be on the job to pick probables for a preparatory camp to be held in the run-up to the Champions Trophy in Melbourne (from December 1 to 9) and the Asian Champions Trophy in Doha (from December 14 to 21).
