The first day of the ITF men's Futures turned a tepid affair with a couple of foreigners retiring owing to heat exhaustion in the first round matches at the Pailan World School Residential Academy on Monday.
With only four matches in the singles main draw held on the opening day seventh seeded Mikhail Valiliev from Russia retired after losing the first set 7-5 to Almog Mashiach of Israel. Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei also retired unable to take the sweltering conditions while trailing 1-6, 0-2 against India's N. Prasanth.
Roman Jebavy of the Czech Republic overcame Ronak Manuja of India 7-5, 6-1. Chris Racz of USA defeated Stephan Fransen of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-0.
