Legendary West Indian all-rounder Sir Garry Sobers will be felicitated on the 35th anniversary of his knighthood and some of the game’s biggest icons, including Indian batting maestro Sunil Gavaskar will be in attendance at the May 15 function here.
The gala ‘Knight to Remember’ dinner, tickets for which are priced at USD 180, will have former West Indian legends Wes Hall, Vivian Richards and Brian Lara and former Australian captain Ian Chappell also in attendance.
The legendary players will speak about the 73—year—old Sobers’ influence on the game in the event to be hosted by Tony Cozier, according to a statement issued by the organisers.
Considered the best all—rounder to have ever played the game, Sobers scored 8032 runs and took 235 wickets in the 93 Tests that he competed in.
The tickets for the event are available online at www.garrysobers.com.
