Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas will take over Zenit St Petersburg in succession of Luciano Spalletti, the Russian club said on Tuesday.

Zenit said on their website that Villas-Boas will be officially presented on Thursday after putting pen to paper on a contract until 2016.

Caretaker Sergei Simak will remain in charge for Wednesday’s round of 16 return leg in the Champions League at Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.
