Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reiterated his desire to stay at the London club beyond next summer when his current contract expires.

Wenger, the longest serving manager in the English Premier League after 17 years in charge, told a news conference on Friday he would be happy to stay at Arsenal “forever because that would make me immortal.”

The Frenchman was targeted by Paris Saint-Germain last season but recently received the full backing of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke, who said he wants him to remain at the club on a long-term basis.

Wenger has been criticized by some of the club’s supporters for his failure to attract big players but the signing of Mesut Ozil combined with the Gunners’ good start to the season has eased tensions.
