Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to receive an unprecedented transfer kitty next summer, if, as expected, he extends his contract with the Premier League leaders.
The 64-year-old, who has been in charge since 1996, is in the final year of his contract but newspaper reports on Monday said he would sign a new three-year deal.
The reports coincided with the announcement on Monday that Arsenal have signed the richest kit deal in English league history, netting them 150 million pounds over five years.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said on Monday that Wenger would soon sign a new contract.
The Frenchman is then set to be given an annual transfer budget of around 80 million pounds, the Daily Telegraph said on Tuesday.
“This is the biggest deal in our history,” the Telegraph quoted Gazidis as saying.
“From this summer, that money will be available to the manager to use how he sees fit. We have a vision to be competing at the top of the world’s game.”
