Former East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan was on Friday appointed head of the IMG-Reliance’s one-month training camp that began at the Cooperage Ground here.
The Perth-based Englishman is expected to reach India on Saturday and take charge of the camp from Monday, IMG-R, the marketing and commercial partners of the AIFF, stated in a release.
“The 56-year-old has over 18 years of coaching experience at different levels and geographies and an almost equal number of years as a professional player,” it said.
Twenty-four players, including Syed Rahim Nabi, Subrata Pal, Gouramangi Singh, Nirmal Chettri, Ishfaq Ahmed, Renedy Singh, Mohammed Rafi, NP Pradeep, Mehrajuddin Wadoo joined the training-cum-conditioning camp on Friday, while the rest 13 players will be joining over the weekend.
Morgan will be assisted by Arshad Hussain, former coach to the erstwhile Mahindra United FC, Debashish Mukherjee, goalkeeper coach and Dr Sandeep Kurale, physio, the statement added.
The training-cum-conditioning camp is organised to keep their 37 signed players in shape ahead of their franchise-based league early next year.
