Sesa Football Academy (Goa) registered an upset 2-1 victory over ONGC (Mumbai) in the ONGC 2nd division football league match at the Ambedkar stadium here on Friday.

Both teams played wayward football to begin with and good moves were rare to come by. The injury time of the first half yielded a penalty to the Goan team when Inacio Colaco was fouled inside the box. Sidroy Alfonso converted the penalty to give his team the lead.

The Mumbai team went in search of the equaliser in the second half and made some purposeful moves. In the 57th minute Jatin Singh Bisht's powerful shot was brilliantly saved by the Sesa goalkeeper Bruno Colaco.

Despite making sustained attacks ONGC could not get the equaliser. The Goan team was again on target when in 69th minute Jaiganesh Goltekar netted following a cross from substitute Gabriel Fernandes making the score 2-0.

ONGC was desperately in need of a goal. In the 71st minute it managed to score when striker Babmas Babatunde struck.

Towards the end, the Mumbai team pressed hard for the equaliser, but in vain. Towards the end, Pratesh Shirodkar of Sesa received a yellow card.

Sesa now leads the table with nine points from four matches. ONGC slipped to second place with seven points from four.

Local clubs New Delhi Heroes and Hindustan FC are also on seven points, but from five matches. ONGC also has a better goal difference.

The top two teams will qualify from this competition.

The result: Sesa 2 (Sidroy Alfonso, Jaiganesh Goltekar) bt ONGC 1 (Babmas Babatunde).

At Banglore: 4 (Mohd. Aslam 2, Martin John, Asif Saheer) bt Titanium 0.
