English Premier League champions Manchester United could be without Wayne Rooney when they travel to Munich to face Bayern in their second-leg quarterfinal match next week with the England striker sustaining a toe injury.

Rooney bruised his toe during United’s 1-1 home draw with the reigning champions Bayern in the first-leg match on Tuesday, reports Xinhua.

Red Devils manager David Moyes revealed on Friday that his side would be without Rooney in Saturday’s league match against Newcastle and could also miss the Munich match next Wednesday.

“Wayne’s got a badly bruised toe,” Moyes said. “He picked it up in the game the other night. We’ll get him treatment all over the weekend and see if we can speed it up,” he added.
