Pune FC will look to continue its unbeaten run as it squares-off against Churchill Brothers SC in a fifth round match of the I-League in Pune on Saturday.

With seven points, Pune FC is presently second in the league table after having its best start ever. In contrast, Churchill (two points), which is in the 11th spot, will seek a change in fortunes.

The visitor has dished out a disappointing fare in the tournament so far as it could score only one goal in four games. In fact, the results have had its toll with the team’s technical director Sukhwinder Singh resigning earlier this week, just a few months after joining the team.

Churchill has, instead, brought in Subhash Bhowmick, who led the team to its second league title last season.

Pune FC coach Mike Snoei said: “Churchill is currently struggling, but definitely a team that plays for trophies. Moreover, when a team fires a coach there is always a new beginning.”

The visitor has made a host of changes to its squad with a number of players from the title-winning team moving out. Portuguese playmaker Hugo Machado will be the player dictating the tempo in attacking areas while India’s Lenny Rodrigues will pull the strings from the midfield.

On the other hand, the host goes into the crucial game on the back of a 2-0 home win over Mohun Bagan and it is high on confidence. — PTI
