Pune FC downed Pailan Arrows 2-0 in a fifth round match of the I-League at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Friday.

Karma Tsewang and Subhash Singh found the target once in either half to hand the AIFF youth team its first loss in the league.

Arrows began on the attack mode and made some impressive inroads into the Pune territory. But the young side could not maintain the tempo as Pune started gaining control with its experienced men checking the exuberance of the boys. Pune found the lead when striker James Moga released Japanese midfielder Nishig Daisuke after winning the ball outside Arrows’ box.

The Japanese midfielder set up a neat pass for an onrushing Karma to slot the ball home in the 11th minute.

Pune dominated the second half and went ahead in the 46th minute through Subhash Singh. Just when Pune appeared to relax, Arrows tried to make a comeback. Milan Singh, the Arrows midfielder, tried a powerful right-footer in the 70th minute only to see his attempt saved by goalkeeper Shahinlal Meloly.

With this win, Pune FC tallied nine points from its five outings while Pailan Arrows remained on eight points.
