The All India Football Federation (AIFF) President and Union Minister Praful Patel has been inducted into the Legal Committee of the game's world governing body FIFA.

Civil Aviation minister Patel, who replaced ailing Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi as the AIFF President in October last year, will work as a member of the legal body that is a part of the FIFA Standing Committee, an AIFF release said.

Mr. Patel's appointment was finalised in the FIFA Executive Committee meeting held at Robben Island in South Africa last month.

Mr. Patel earlier brought down curtains on Dasmunsi's 20-year reign at the helm of AIFF when he was elected unopposed at its Annual General Meeting at its headquarters here.
