Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says there have been no negotiations to sell Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.

After a Barcelona official spoke during the week about informal talks over a potential deal, Mr. Wenger said on Friday he wanted to keep his talented young squad together.

Wenger says there has been no contact with Barcelona about Fabregas and no secret meeting with the Spanish champions, who knocked Arsenal out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals.

He says he does not want to sell any of his players and cannot understand what he called a persistent campaign in the media to send English-based players to Spanish clubs.
