Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday shrugged off its recent struggles against Stuttgart and earned a 2-0 victory away from home to remain fourth in the Bundesliga.
Raffael scored Gladbach’s first goal in the 37th minute and Oscar Wendt made it 2-0 after 73 minutes.
Gladbach collected just its second victory in its last 15 Bundesliga matches in Stuttgart. It also captured its fourth straight win in the Bundesliga and fifth in six matches to improve to 25 points for fourth place — three points behind Bayer Leverkusen.
Stuttgart remained on 16 points.
Gladbach had more chances early in the game but was unable to convert. The guest got the job done in the 37th minute.
Stuttgart lost a ball in the midfield, and Granit Xhaka passed forward to Patrick Hermann, who fed Raffael, and the Brazilian beat Stuttgart keeper Sven Ulreich for the first goal.
Gladbach doubled the lead and finished the match in the 73rd minute with Herrmann getting the ball on the left side and crossing to Wendt, who unleashed a hammer left foot blast inside the near left post for the decider.
The result : VfB Stuttgart 0 lost to Borussia Moenchengladbach 2 (Rafael 37, Wendt 73).
