Midfielder Michael Carrick signed a one-year extension to his contract at Manchester United on Friday.

The England international extended his stay to June 2015, with an option to extend for a further year.

“During my short time at the club it hasn’t been hard to notice that Michael is a great reader of the game and has excellent passing ability,” United manager David Moyes told the club’s official website.

“He is an exceptional man and a true professional and it’s great that he has committed himself to the club.” Carrick has been with United since July 2006.
