Manchester United makes second offer for Fabregas

Manchester United manager David Moyes said on Monday that the Premier League champions had made a second offer for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

United has had an initial bid, reportedly of 25 million pounds, rejected for the former Arsenal player.

But Moyes said United made a second bid and were working hard to bring the Spanish international back to England.

Moyes told a press conference during United’s tour of Japan that Ed Woodward, the club’s executive vice-chairman, had received a response from Barcelona “He has spoken to them. There has been a second offer, but Ed is dealing with that,” said Moyes.

He also said that Woodward was trying to bring in a number of other new players before the start of the season.

“People thought this may be the summer that transfers come later and that’s how it’s happening,” he said.

“When you are in for good players you want to give it every chance to materialise.

“I will try and move this one (Fabregas) forward. Ed is working hard on these deals and we can only hope they fall into place soon.”
