Manchester United beats Arsenal to go top

November 03, 2012 08:17 pm | Updated 08:17 pm IST - London

Manchester United went top of the Premier League, temporarily at least, as they beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday.

Robin van Persie, playing against his former club for the first time, put United ahead after three minutes and Wayne Rooney missed a penalty before a Patrice Evra header midway through the second-half doubled their advantage.

Jack Wilshere was then sent off for a second yellow card as United squandered a number of opportunities to increase their advantage.

Santi Cazorla bent in superb goal in the final seconds.
