Maharashtra joins UP in quarterfinal league

Maharashtra forced group leader Uttar Pradesh to a 2-2 draw in the 67th Santosh Trophy National football championship here on Saturday.

Sanjenben Sadanand (11th minute) and Praneel Manjan (45 +3) scored for Maharashtra while Tushar Choudhary (3rd) and Mohammed Hadi Hasan Khan (5th) netted for UP in the Group ‘C’ qualifying round I game.

With this, Uttar Pradesh topped the three-team group and entered the quarterfinal league along with Maharashtra.

The result (qualifying round I, Group C): UP 2 (Tushar Choudhary 3; Mohammed Hadi Hasan Khan 5) drew with Maharashtra 2 (Sanjenben Sadanand 11, Praneel Manjan 45).
