Legal hurdle for Tamil Nadu team

February 22, 2013 01:30 am | Updated 01:30 am IST - KOCHI:

After landing in Kollam after a lot of uncertainty, legal issues once again threaten to stop Tamil Nadu from playing in the 67th Santosh Trophy National football championship.

Tamil Nadu was supposed to play Goa in the first match of the quarterfinal league in Kollam, but after receiving an injunction from a civil court in Chennai, the Kerala Football Association postponed the match to 5.30 p.m.

“The TFA (Tamil Nadu Football Association) will be trying to remove the order in the morning, that is why we have postponed the match, making it the second one,” said P. Anilkumar, the General Convener of the Santosh Trophy and the Kerala Football Association’s General Secretary, here on Thursday.

“If the clearance comes, Tamil Nadu will play,” he said.
