Japan hardly put a foot wrong in its first match against Honduras. The Asian giant played the game beautifully — dribbling well, doing nice turns, and indulging in great one-touch passes.
While Kieto Nakamura hogged the attention with a hat-trick, Takefusa Kubo’s performance did not escape attention.
Dubbed the ‘Japanese Messi’, Kubo though being marked, scored one goal.
He said it was an honour to be compared to Lionel Messi.
“Messi is the No.1 player in the world. And given his name, I am honoured. I am still young and never know what will happen in the future,” he said.
