Kabul school held to a draw

Estequlal High School, Kabul City, was held to a 1-1 draw by Football Academy High School, Sambalpur, Odisha, in an under-14 section Group VI league match of the 53rd Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday.

Mohammed Mehdi put the team from Afghanistan in the lead in the seventh minute, but the Odisha team equalised through Mohan Parter in the 23rd minute.

With one team qualifying from each of the eight groups for the quarterfinals, North Eastern English School, Khabeisoi, Manipur; Greenwood HSS, Dimapur, Nagaland and Tumpui Middle School, Kolasib, Mizoram, have confirmed their berth in the next stage.

The results: Estequlal HS, Kabul, 1 (Mohammed Mehdi) drew with Football Academy High School, Sambalpur, Odisha, 1 (Mohan Parter).
