Table-topper Chennaiyin FC suffered a shock 3-0 defeat against NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) in their Indian Super League encounter here on Thursday. All the goals came in the first half.

A brace by central defender Massamba was the highlight of the match.

Durga Boro opened the account with a strike from close range in the 10th minute before Massamba scored twice in the space of two minutes. The Senagalese headed home a flag-kick from Spain’s Koke, and the duo was in the thick of it again as Massamba slotted home another header off a free kick from the 31-year-old Spaniard.

Chennaiyin remained at the top with 19 points from 11 matches while NEUFC improved its tally to 13 from 11.

The result: NorthEast United FC 3 (Durga Boro 10, Massamba 21 & 23) bt Chennaiyin FC 0.
