Continuing their upward journey in the world football ranking, India climbed an impressive 11 rungs to figure 138th in the latest chart issued by the game’s world governing body FIFA today.

India, who improved seven points to figure 149th with 134 points in the September ranking, have a total of 160 points this time.

The improvement came despite Bob Houghton’s men have not played in any international match in the recent time.

Meanwhile, Brazil maintained their numero uno status with 1632 points, followed by Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.

Argentina, who recently qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, figured sixth, one step below Germany.
