Dempo Sports Club scored a fluent 3-0 win over 10-man Sporting Clube de Goa to earn its first win of the tournament in the third round of the Hero I-League here on Tuesday.

Dempo now has five points from three matches while Sporting Clube has one point from two matches.

The winner scored through Lenny Rodrigues (28th minute), Alwyn George (50th) and Francis Fernandes (90th).

Both teams made two changes. Dempo brought in Alwyn and Clifford Miranda in place of Mandar Rao Dessai and Holicharan Narzary while Sporting Clube included Pratesh Shirokar and Sumeet Passi in place of Don Bosco and Joseph Pereira.

Dempo enjoyed territorial advantage over its rival and took the lead in the 28th minute. Carlos Hernandez, who kept on attacking, released the ball to Rodrigues, who cut past Rojen Singh and Jovel Martins before uncorking a firm right-footer past custodian Ravi Kumar from the edge of the box.

Sporting Clube suffered a setback early in the second when Clemente Joseph earned a second bookable offence against Miranda from the referee in the 47th minute. Dempo took advantage of the numerical figure and increased the lead in the 50th minute when Alwyn, after receiving pass from Gurpreet Singh, got the better of his marker Rojen Singh and placed the ball into the right corner of the net.

Fernandes then ensured his team collected full points with goal in the 90th minute.
