Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) will be holding a football-specific conference, named Goa International Football Table (GIFT) on March 15 and 16, 2013 at Panjim.
Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar, will be the chief guest at the two-day event and will unveil the Goa Football Policy draft.
The highlight will be a special football parade in Panjim on March 16, featuring crowd-pullers from yesteryears like Inder Singh, Magan Singh, Syed Naeemuddin, current India skipper Sunil Chhetri, Goan stars and emerging footballers.
These football stars will visit five schools around the city and interact with kids.
India national coach Wim Kovermans is listed among the speakers at a panel discussion titled The Professionals and dealing with upgrading our competitions to export stars, according to a media release.
Srinivas Dempo (AIFF vice-president, Goa FA president), Vinod Parkott (Vasco SC president), Joshua Lewis (Kenkre Football Academy CEO) are others on the panel.
Distinguished speakers
GIFT speakers include Kushal Das (AIFF General Secretary), Dr. Robin Petersen (South African Football Development Agency CEO), Joan Cusco (FIFA Beach Soccer Worldwide Senior VP), Mohammed Basir (AFC Coach Education Head), Mariano Barretto (UEFA Pro Licence coach), Scott O’Donell (AIFF Academy Instructor) and Sioulas Anastasios (Sesa Goa FC coach).
GIFT will focus on six aspects: infrastructure, talent development, community development, marketing & sponsorship, football professionals. Four players from the State will be given lifetime achievement awards, apart from coaches, referees.
Goan clubs representatives among speakers and panelists include Srinivas Dempo (Dempo SC chairman), Vinod Parkott (Vasco SC president), Peter Vaz (Sporting Clube de Goa president), Raj Gomes (Salgaocar SC), Valanka Alemao (Churchill Brothers SC CEO) and P.K. Mukherjee (Vedanta Sesa FA Managing Director).
GFDC chairman, Dr. Rufino Monteiro and Sports Authority of Goa Executive Director and GFDC Member, Elvis Gomes, will be present at the Goa Football Policy launch on March 15, by the CM.
The two-day event is promoted by TransStadia, supported by AIFF, Beach Soccer Worldwide, GFA, GFDC and the State government.
