Germany and Portugal fined

June 15, 2012 03:28 am | Updated July 12, 2016 03:09 am IST - WARSAW:

European football's governing body UEFA on Thursday said it had fined Germany €10,000 after its fans threw missiles onto the pitch during the country's opening Euro 2012 match against Portugal. Portugal was fined €5,000 for a delayed kick-off to the second-half of the Group B match in Lviv, Ukraine, last Saturday, UEFA said in an emailed statement.

The fine imposed on the German football association (DFB) is small in comparison to the €120,000 imposed on Russia after its fans lit and threw fireworks during the game against the Czech Republic last Friday.
