FIFA will host an international conference to discuss more effective ways to combat doping.
FIFA says the Nov. 29-30 event involving the World Anti-Doping Agency is titled “Time has come to change the strategy of the fight against doping in sport.”
WADA’s role has been criticised recently by some Olympic sports leaders who believe they are spending too much money analysing too many tests without catching enough drug cheats.
The FIFA-hosted conference was announced after a meeting on Wednesday between the football body’s medical officials and WADA director-general David Howman.
FIFA says it will be organised by “medical representatives of international team sports federations, the IOC and the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations.”
Earlier in November, WADA will host a conference in Johannesburg to update the World Anti-Doping Code.
