FIFA consultant and expert on artificial pitches, Dr. Eric Harrison, and another official Chrisantha Perera appear to be impressed with the Cooperage football ground for laying the artificial turf under FIFA’s “Win in India with India” project.
After inspecting the ground on Friday, Dr. Harrison said: “The drainage facilities are good here and there’s also proper security for football activities.
“I am happy with the stadium at Bangalore,” he added.
The FIFA officials, who are scheduled to visit Shillong and Imphal, are expected to present a favourable report and hope to start work early next year.
Meanwhile, FIFA is also looking at the quality concept for artificial pitches in order to make playing football a pleasure.
Recently Dr. Harrison said that it’s important to understand that FIFA hallmarks will be awarded only to an installed pitch.
According to FIFA, each pitch is put through a three-stage test process (identification test, laboratory test and field test) and making it mandatory that the field test must happen within three months of the pitch being installed, weather conditions permitting.
