FIFA official backs India’s bid for U-17 WC

Ali Bin Al Hussein, FIFA vice-president from Asia, has supported India’s bid to host the under-17 World Cup football in 2017.

Al Hussein, a member of the FIFA executive committee, said it was important that India hosted the event.

“My support is there for India’s bid to host the FIFA under-17 World Cup. India is an important country in Asia and a crucial one for growth of the sport,” Al Hussein said at the launch of his pet project, the Asian Football Development Project, to promote football at the grassroots level with the help of NGO Magic Bus, here.

Former India captain Baichung Bhutia, who is heading the AIFF Technical Committee, wanted the panel to play a big role in the development of the sport.
