Argentina's forward Gonzalo Higuain (R) shoots and scores a disallowed goal during the 2014 FIFA World Cup final football match between Germany and Argentina at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

The World Cup final between Germany and Argentina is goalless at half-time despite good chances at both ends.

Gonzalo Higuain pounced on a terrible header from Toni Kroos towards his own goal in the 21st minute, only to drag his shot well wide when one-on-one with Manuel Neuer.

Higuain then had a goal disallowed for offside before Jerome Boateng had to make a saving tackle almost on the goalline after Lionel Messi went on a great run and poked the ball beyond Neuer.

For Germany, Benedikt Hoewedes headed a corner against the post in first half injury-time. Andre Schuerrle had earlier replaced Christoph Kramer, who failed to recover from an earlier challenge by Ezequiel Garay.
