Pop star Jennifer Lopez has pulled out of the World Cup opening ceremony in Brazil, football’s world governing body FIFA said.

Lopez, who recorded the official World Cup song, We Are One, with rapper Pitbull and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte, had been due to perform with them at the opening ceremony on Thursday in Sao Paulo.

But FIFA said Lopez would not now be performing.

“For production issues, Jennifer Lopez, one of the artists of the official song We Are One, will not be able to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony,” it said in a statement.

FIFA meanwhile said the opening ceremony “will amaze the public while paying homage to Brazil’s three biggest treasures -- nature, people and football.” The ceremony will climax with the official song by Pitbull, Leitte and Brazilian drumming collective Olodum.
