Ferguson: Chances of bringing Ronaldo back slim

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he would love to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford but says the Real Madrid striker is now “unbuyable.”

Ronaldo left United for Madrid in 2009 for a world record transfer fee of 80 million pounds.

The Portugal forward spent six years at United and there have been rumours that the 27-year-old could be willing to leave Spain.

But Ferguson said the chances of bringing Ronaldo back were slim.

“There’s every chance Ronaldo might leave Real, you never know,” Ferguson told a number of British Sunday newspapers.

“I would like to think he could return to Old Trafford but I don’t think it will happen.

“You’re talking about incredible amounts of money.” “What would you think his value would be? He’s definitely unbuyable. Who could afford to buy him?” “I speak to him quite regularly. He’s always wishing us well and we’d be the first team he looks for, there’s no doubt about that.”

A number of big-spending Russian clubs have been mentioned as possible destinations for Ronaldo but Ferguson said he doubted that would happen.

“He complained about the weather here, let alone the middle of winter in Russia,” Ferguson said.
