Chelsea ends 4-game winless run

September 22, 2013 12:26 am | Updated June 02, 2016 02:02 pm IST - LONDON

John Obi Mikel scored his first-ever Premier League goal as Chelsea’s four-game winless run ended on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Fulham.

After Oscar powered in the opener early in the second-half, Mikel sliced the ball into the net in the 84th minute of the west London derby.

The Nigeria midfielder had only previously scored twice for Chelsea, in the FA Cup in January 2007 during Jose Mourinho’s first reign as manager.

This victory, however unconvincing, enabled Chelsea to dislodge Liverpool from the top of the standings ahead of Sunday’s games.
