CFA league from Monday

The St. Joseph’s Chennai Football Association (CFA) senior division league will kick off on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here. The first division matches will also get underway the same day.

This year’s competition will see prize money to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh for the senior division winner and Rs. 1 lakh, 75,000 and 50,000 for the second, third and fourth placed teams respectively.

Also champions in the first, second, third and fourth divisions will get Rs. 30,000 each while runners-up and third placed teams in each of the four divisions will pocket 20,000 and 10,000 respectively.

Arrangements for senior division matches to be played under lights, if warranted, have also been made.

On Monday, Arrows FC, last season’s second-placed team, and Chennai FC, a newly-promoted outfit, will set the ball rolling with the opening senior division match, while the clash between Madras Sporting Union and Income Tax RC will mark the start of the first division league.
