Brazilian forward Uilliams Bomfin Souza Silva will turn out for Shillong Lajong Football Club in the coming I-League, the club announced on Sunday.

Silva, who now plays for Japan’’s J-League 2 side Sports Club Sagamihara, will be the fourth foreigner in the Lajong squad.

The 24-year-old, who arrived in Shillong Saturday, is the first Brazilian to play for Lajong.

Although, Cameroonian striker Charles Edoa was initially announced by the club as the fourth foreigner, the deal fell through due to unforeseen complications in the visa and transfer applications, the Lajong management said in a statement.

Souza Silva said: “I look forward to my future with Shillong Lajong and I believe that I can make a real contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies in the future.”

Shillong Lajong general manager Habamutlang Lyngdoh hoped the Brazilian’s talent and experience of playing professional football in Brazil and Japan, would help the club achieve success.
