Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber will have to undergo surgery due to a thigh injury, an examination has revealed.
Badstuber’s bad luck with injury continues as the defender was again sidelined on Sunday after returning recently from a 20-month break to recover from cruciate ligament knee injuries, reports Xinhua.
The defender ruptured a tendon in his left thigh in Bayern’s 2-0 victory over Stuttgart, Bayern’s club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt revealed.
The injury requires a surgical operation, which means another injury break for the defender.
“I am obviously very disappointed right now but of course I now know how to deal with situations like this. I will be back and I will pick it up from where I left off after battling to return from my long injury lay off. I wont give up,” Badstuber told the club’s official homepage.
The 25-year-old German international is a home-grown talent who made 104 appearances and scored one goal.
