The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup championship originally scheduled to take place in India has been shifted to Bangladesh and it will be conducted in Dhaka from December 1 to 15.
According to a top official of the All India Football Federation, the shift of venue became necessary as the Indian Federation could not give an assurance on the visa issues with regard to the various teams.
Aside from India the other seven nations in this Championship are defending champion Maldives, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the host.
A formal announcement on this championship was due next month when the SAFF congress meets in Dhaka on October 3. The draw for the championship would be taken on that occasion. On the last occasion, Maldives and Sri Lanka had co-hosted the event with the final held in Colombo.
