Giant-killer Gokulam Kerala FC continued its winning run with a stunning 1-0 victory over frontrunner Minerva Punjab in its own backyard, as the I-League title race took another interesting turn on Tuesday.
Kisekka scores
It was a solitary 75th-minute strike from Henry Kisekka that secured full three points for Binu George’s men.
Gokulam hit the cross bar thrice before getting its hard-earned goal in away conditions. The Kerala side has now beaten Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Minerva in back-to-back games.
The moment of the match came when a short cross by Lakra was taken first time by Kisekka.
The ball hit the crossbar and fell straight to Kisekka again who scored with a sensational bicycle kick to silence the home crowd.
Minerva went all out in the final few minutes but Gokulam hung on.
With this win, Gokulam moved to sixth while Minerva remained in the second spot behind Neroca FC.
