Colombian footballers Andres Gonzalez and Jairo Suarez are the first two international players confirmed for the inaugural season of the Hero Indian Super League. These two, apart from 47 other international players, will comprise the required quota of 49 in the central international player pool. The draft will be held on August 21, 2014.
Central defender González, 30, has 11 appearances for the Colombian national squad and played in 2004 Copa America tournament. He represents Junior de Barranquilla club and has experience of playing 270 matches including teams like Chile’s Colo-Colo and home club Independiente Santa Fe.
Suarez, 29, plays as right back for Colombian club Santa Fe now and represented the national U-20 squad at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. He is an accomplished club pro, donning colours of Colombian teams America de Cali, La Equidad, Cucuta Deportivo and Fortaleza.
Eight teams will play the HISL, out of which four clubs have signed maximum two internationals permitted.
