Injured Cacau ruled out of England match

Germany forward Cacau will miss Sunday’s World Cup second-round match against England after pulling an abdominal muscle in practice.

The German football federation says Cacau was injured during the team’s final training at its base outside Pretoria. The German team arrived on Saturday in Bloemfontein and will practice at a local university ground. FIFA is not allowing practice at the venue because it is preserving the pitch at the Free State Stadium for Sunday’s match.

Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger (thigh) and defender Jerome Boateng (calf) will attempt to practice Saturday to assess their fitness for the England match.
