Nizam Basketball Academy, started by a few die-hard fans of the sport, is in the news for all right reasons. For a club which came into existence in 2004, NBA has been one of the most consistent performers in the basketball circuit – not just in the twin cities but across the State too.

For a team which seemed to be a perfect blend of youth and experience as many of them have represented Universities and also the Junior State teams, NBA most recent achievements were two big wins.

In a way, this outfit is lucky to have a dedicated coach like Mohammad Younus, who even after retirement makes it a point to be there at the Gymkhana Ground to guide the young talent. The first of which was the Achen Subash Memorial Tournament in Sanathnagar. After scoring a thrilling 78-77 win over Loyola Academy in the semi-final, NBA got the better of HAL 77-66 in the final. Then as if to prove that the above victory was no flash in the pan, NBA also clinched honours in the Sri Raja Venkatadri Appa Rao Bahadur basketball State-level championship in Nuzivudu.

Again, after a fairly comfortable 61-34 win over Victory Playground, NBA downed a more experienced East-Coast Railway outfit 84-59 in the final.
