Yuvraj Singh was left lamenting a sloppy fielding performance as India ‘A’ suffered a disappointing loss to West Indies ‘A’ here on Tuesday. Jonathan Carter was dropped on six and went on to make 133 while efforts in the outfield were far from impressive. “The whole team didn’t field well; it’s as simple as that,” Yuvraj said.
“The target should have been 20 runs smaller. Obviously, dropping Carter on six didn’t help.” Yuvraj’s 40 was the top score of the innings, with the pursuit throttled by frequent dismissals. “They bowled in good areas and we could never really get a partnership going,” the India ‘A’ captain said. “When guys don’t get runs, you don’t win games.”
The West Indies ‘A’ skipper Kieran Powell said he was not surprised by 25-year-old Carter’s knock, only his second hundred in all forms of cricket. “Jonathan has generally made starts and we have always been talking to him about going on to make that big score,” he said.
“Everyone was expecting that from him and today he played a massive innings for the team.”
