Allrounder Chris Woakes has been added to England’s squad for the five-match limited-overs series against Australia a day after the humbling 5-0 defeat in the Ashes.
The 24-year-old Woakes has played one test in the northern Ashes series in August 13 ODIs and four Twenty20 internationals. He took career-best figures of 6-45 in his second ODI but hasn’t been a regular member of the squad.
Seven of the starting XI from the Sydney test, which finished inside three days after another batting collapse, have been included the ODI squad. Veterans Kevin Pietersen and James Anderson are among the England players missing the series.
