India ‘A’ opener K.L. Rahul said that he and his batting colleagues could imbibe some clues from the manner in which Assad Fudadin rescued the West Indies ‘A’ first innings here on Thursday.
“He stayed at the wicket and waited for the loose balls. Our batsmen should take a look at his innings and learn from it,” Rahul said while also candidly attributing his dismissal to a ‘bad shot.’
Rahul believed that constructive partnerships could rescue India ‘A’ on a pitch that has begun to break.
Partnership crucial
“It is very important that we get good partnerships. The wicket was a lot better when we bowled. Now it is breaking and becoming slow. Credit to the West Indies bowlers and they bowled in good areas,” the opener said.
Later, addressing the media, the West Indies ‘A’ captain Kirk Edwards lauded Fudadin’s unbeaten 86 and said: “Assad played a great knock in the context of the game. He started slowly yesterday, with four runs off 60-odd balls. That required great mental strength. And then to come today and almost get a hundred, I am really sorry he didn’t get it, but he batted straight through the innings. A captain really can’t ask for more.”
