Karnataka bowlers Rahul Pinto and Vyshak V. Kumar troubled Tamil Nadu but fourth wicket pair Washington Sunder (84, 11x4) and K. Vishal Vaidhya (76, 11x4,1x6) helped the team recover on the first day of the third round of league matches in the Vijay Merchant Trophy South Zone under-16 cricket tournament in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
The duo put on 142 runs after Tamil Nadu was reduced to a precarious three for 23.
Later Darrel Perrier (58 batting, 10x4) continued the rescue act with a 45-run stand with S. Siddharth (17) as Tamil Nadu reached 263 for seven at stumps.
In another match, Jaya Surya (123, 17x4, 1x6, 194b) and Pranith (110 batting, 11x4, 210b) helped Hyderabad reach 300 for six against Goa.
