David Warner has been recalled and Michael Clarke returns as captain of Australia’s limited-overs team for the five-match ODI series against England starting on January 12.
Warner, who was dropped from the ODI squad due to poor form ahead of the October tour to India, regained his place due to his weight of runs in the Test series and domestic cricket.
“David Warner has won back his place in the Australia ODI squad with his outstanding recent form,” chief selector John Inverarity said.
Clarke, Shaun Marsh and paceman James Pattinson, who were all unavailable for the India tour due to injuries, have been recalled.
Warner returns at the expense of Phil Hughes, while Adam Voges, Moises Henriques and Callum Ferguson also lost their spots in the squad. George Bailey, who led the ODI team in Clarke’s absence, is vice-captain for the England series.
